Mzizi has rebuilt its Academics Module into the Mzizi Teacher Pack: a simpler, teacher-first workspace where teachers, class teachers and section heads can plan lessons, set and mark homework, take attendance and track learner progress, all in one place.

What's covered

User Interface & Role Differentiation

BeforeTeachers and administrators operated through a unified, generic system menu under "Academic Management". Teachers manually navigated through broad subject and class setup lists to input marks or generate mark lists.

Features dedicated, role-specific dashboards for Teachers, Class Teachers, and Section Heads.

  • Teachers only see their assigned subjects and classes.
  • Class Teachers & Section Heads receive a consolidated overview across all learning areas for their specific class or section.
  • Includes a global search bar for quick navigation (grading, attendance, discipline), profile pictures, and seamless multi-branch switching (e.g., Primary vs. JSS).

Schemes of Work & Lesson Tracking

Old scheme of work upload form
Before: teachers filled in a form and uploaded their scheme of work as a Word or PDF file.
New Work Plan screen with scheme coverage and approval status
Now: the Work Plan shows term coverage, each topic's approval status (Pending or Approved) and a Lesson Tracker tab.
BeforeTeachers uploaded schemes of work and recorded delivered lessons primarily to provide high-level coverage reports for HODs.

Integrates pre-loaded KICD workbooks directly into the system. Teachers can add custom learning outcomes with 4 attainment keys and submit schemes of work to Class Teachers for digital approval or rejection. It also features an interactive Lesson Tracker where teachers log session status ("In Progress" vs. "Completed"), which automatically updates real-time completion percentages on the dashboard.

Digital Diary, Homework & In-App Marking

Introduces a native assignment system supporting 4 categories (Continuous Assessment, Examination, Lesson Assessment, Revision Guide). Teachers can set publish dates, due dates, strict expiry dates, and filter by class streams. Crucially, teachers can preview and annotate student file submissions directly within the app (using ticks, crosses, text feedback, and score entries), syncing results straight to the Parent/Student PowerPortal.

Attendance Tracking

BeforeBasic attendance features were primarily emphasized for co-curricular activities and sports.

Implements dual attendance tracking: Subject Teachers mark subject-specific attendance, while Class Teachers log daily overall class attendance. Both include daily and weekly percentage charts and visual graphs.

Analytics & Performance Digest Reports

BeforeGenerated basic PDF mark lists, mean grade distributions, and standard report forms.

Introduces Digest Formatted Reports (Academic Performance Digest & Subject Grade Analysis Digest). Teachers can track target vs. actual scores, analyze annual subject trends, view consolidated 360-degree student profiles (submission rates %, attendance %, exam growth graphs), and generate automated rankings (Top 5, Bottom 5, Most Improved).

CBE Pathways & Report Card Design

BeforeSubject pathway analysis (STEM, Social Sciences, Arts) required manual tagging and custom setup requests with account managers.

Automatically clusters subjects into pathways (STEM, Arts & Sports, Social Sciences & Business). Pathways are directly embedded into modernized report card templates alongside visual attainment keys, comparison graphs, teacher signatures, and QR codes.

Behavior, Gamification & Discipline

BeforeBehavior evaluation was limited to static comments on end-of-term report cards.

Features an interactive Class Leaderboard powered by Merit/Demerit points awarded for positive behavior (e.g., +20 points for completing classwork or participating in sports). It also includes Incident & Discipline Reporting (e.g., medical cases like nosebleeds or discipline cases), which pushes notifications directly to the Parent Portal.

Communication: Report Forms Straight to WhatsApp

With the new Communication module, schools can now send report forms directly from Mzizi to parents on WhatsApp. There is no need to print, scan or forward PDFs one by one: each learner's report form reaches their parent's phone in a few clicks.
